Ten Tea'sSM 3rd Grade Green Tea is also known as Zisun or Purple Bamboo Shoot. The name comes from the tea's plump and pointy buds which bear resemblance of bamboo. Zisun tea is grown on Mount Guzhu, China. From the Tang dynasty to Ming dynasty, a span of about 600 years, this tea was consumed by the Emperor's royal family. This tea is harvested around April when the stalks are pink and the buds are white. This tea is made from young tea leaves. The finished tea leaves have a flat, thin, and uniform look with a green color. Tea made from these leaves has a strong taste with body and pleasant, slightly sweet and clean aftertaste. The hue is a very light yellow-green and the aroma is high and clean.
The water used to steep this tea should be about 160-180°F or 70-80°C. Use about 2 tablespoons (3 grams) of tea leaves for about every 5 ounces (150 ml) of water. A steeping time of about 3-5 minutes is recommended with more or less time depending on the desired concentration. As a rough guide, the higher the temperature of the water or the greater the amount of leaves used, the shorter the steeping time should be. The use of a covered glass or ceramic cup is recommended for steeping in order to appreciate the tea leaves. Net tea weight 4 ounces (113.4 g) and shipping weight 0.29 lb. Temporarily out of stock.
